To view the current activation count open an elevated command prompt and type:Ī window will pop up that says "Remaining Windows rearm count: X" Rearm extends your Windows 7 activation and runs a countdown of 30 days. An install of Windows 7 without an activation key allows for 30 days of usage. The initial indication I had problems was that the local administrator account was disabled after sysprep on both the source laptop, and also on any VMs or laptops I tried to image. Windows will typically only allow 5 activations and then it is dead, and you cannot use that image anymore. There is a limit if you are using a Retail or MAK activation key.
